I don’t know where the time has gone, just over a week to go now until Royal Parks!

After my training session with ultra-athlete Jackson Williams last week, I’ve been putting some of his tips into practice and can’t wait to take part now.  We also created a training video which you can watch here – hopefully our fitness tips will help keep you on track for the big day! I know how hard it can be to stay motivated, but it will all be worth it when you cross that finish line.

I know how hard it can be to stay motivated, but it will all be worth it when you cross that finish line. 

As music plays such a massive part in keeping those legs moving, Nokia has launched a website where anyone can go online and vote for the best tracks to be played on the Royal Parks route!  The top 10 tunes are going to be played by live bands along the course to keep everyone motivated, please please vote for I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas – I love it!

 
As lots of you found Jackson’s tips in my previous post really helpful, I’ve included some of mine below to help with the final week! 

To reduce the chance of injury, make sure that you stretch properly, as well as warming up and cooling down.  Take a drink with you to sip and always drink plenty of water after a run to re hydrate your body.
 
Eat plenty of food and drink the night before the race and get some rest. Eat your evening meal reasonably early. A good portion of pasta with tomato sauce or a rice dish, nothing too rich, will help you stock up on extra carbs.
 
Run to a good tune - get hold of a good sound system, such as Nokia 5800 Comes With Music, to listen to while you train and keep motivation going. Imagine yourself crossing the finish line when you are running to your music!
